How to Boost Sales with the Shopify Product Feed App

Now under the ‘Feed’ section, you will see two options, either you can create a basic feed or a custom feed. However, to create a custom feed you will have to upgrade to its pro/enterprise plans. 

So, for this tutorial let’s create a basic feed, for that click on the “Create Basic Feed” button. Now, follow the steps to create the feed. 

First is Feed Name, provide a suitable name for your feed so that it becomes easier to distinguish between multiple feeds submitted to the channels. 

Secondly, Choose a Channel from the dropdown box where you want to advertise your products and gain potential buyers. 

The third step is, Categorize Product to ensure that the product is under the right category. For e.g, category and sub-categories will be Health & Beauty > Personal care > Cosmetics. 

And the last step in the basic feed that is optional is Product Filtering. It is available in the pro version, the feature helps you to filter out the products you want or don’t want in your feed. You have to select a parameter from the dropdown criteria, (for e.g, select ‘quantity’ then change the operator to greater than, and in the next column enter 0). It will automatically remove products that are out of stock and just like that you can add more parameters. 

Proceed to hit the “Create” button once you’re done with filling up the details. It will send you an email once it is done updating your new feed. You will see a new feed created in your dashboard.

If you want you can again edit it and also delete the feed by clicking on the “ button. To submit the feed click on the “Submit” button 

Next on the Products page, you can see all your products that have been successfully imported. Here you get the option to filter products (that I mentioned before) and add parameters to them. 

Go further to the Tools page and here you will find a few rules that you can set for your products to take effect on the submitted feed. It won’t change or affect your products in the platform’s store. 

  • Product Mapping: This feature is used to ensure product attributes /headers and FeedGeni’s are matched accurately.
  • Google Custom Labels: This rule is specifically only for Google channels 
  • Inventory Rules: This rule is to update details of your imported products
  • Tax: You will have to set tax value that applies to your feed prices
  • Weight Conversion: With this rule, you can convert the weights of your products into other units.

In “create a custom feed”, you get 2-3 extra options like Feed Mapping that helps  to customize how your feed should be formatted (.csv, .txt, .xml, .rss)

Another feature is, when selecting the channel you can add the “Others” option and give a custom channel name (it is not presented in the basic feed).  You can also add mapping of the platform you’re creating a feed for, select MC header and begin mapping.
